Giles has extensive experience in financial technology, lending and investment.
In 2004, he co-founded Zopa, then the world’s first online peer-to-peer lending business and now a digital bank, where he served as CEO (2007-2015) and chairman (2015-2019) and remains an active board member. He is also a non-executive director of Bank of Ireland Group plc and chairs carwow, Europe's leading online marketplace for buying new cars and helping consumers sell their current car.
Giles studied Psychology at Christ Church, Oxford, and holds an MBA from INSEAD. He received an OBE in 2015 for services to financial services and was named FinTech Leader of the Year in the 2016 FinTech Innovation Awards.
Giles has two children and likes to search for the sun in the microclimate of the Isle of Wight.
