Careers
There is a reason why people love working with us. Our colleagues are our greatest asset, operating to the highest standards in line with values that have stood the test of time.
Diverse expertise, aligned values
We are proud to manage the finances of a wide range of customers. In order to meet and understand their needs, we look for colleagues with a wide diversity of experience and backgrounds.
Focused on our values of honesty, empathy, excellence and social responsibility, colleagues go the extra mile to deliver outstanding service; they also bring a vibrant energy to work each day that our customers say sets us apart from other banks.
Family-owned and family friendly, the bank is a Living Wage employer and offers an excellent benefits package. We positively promote work-life balance with flexible working policies, opportunities to work from home and well-being support.
Ongoing opportunity
As a small bank with few organisational layers, we offer opportunities for broad career development. Our partners and senior managers are highly accessible, while close communication between departments allows us to spot potential and accelerate talent. Colleagues are encouraged to acquire new skills and specialisms, and development programmes spanning every level of the organisation allow staff to move easily between different areas of the organisation. And our independence as a family-owned bank gives us a rare capacity to listen to every one of our colleagues, embrace their ideas and enable them to shine in positions where they’ll make a difference.
Giving back to society
Our purpose is to be ‘good bankers and good citizens’ and the Hoare family’s long tradition of philanthropy continues to thrive at the bank. The partners donate up to 10% of annual profits to a wide variety of causes via our Golden Bottle Trust and the trust double-matches charitable donations made by colleagues through our Give as You Earn scheme. Staff are encouraged to take part in paid ‘volunteer days’, supporting a wide range of charities and social initiatives, and to become involved in the bank’s wider philanthropic activities. This deeply ingrained sense of purpose, along with our lively sports and social programme, forges close bonds between colleagues.
As strong supporters of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, we are mindful of sustainability in all that we do, from producing environmentally friendly bank cards to sourcing local, organic produce for our canteen.
Expanding horizons
Our premises on Fleet Street are a City of London landmark and our Knightsbridge branch completes our footprint in the capital. However, we support customers nationwide with established operations in the East, South West, North East and North West of England.
For all our extraordinary heritage, we are emphatically future-facing: we continue to invest in digital capabilities and data science, giving colleagues the tools they need to stay ahead and deliver a competitive 21st-century service.
