After school at Eton and graduation from Cambridge in 1953 Henry came almost immediately into the bank.
He was made a Partner in 1959 and was Chairman from 1988 until 2001. He owned and ran the Stourhead (Western) Estate in Wiltshire since taking over from his father in 1981. The Estate was handed on to his son during the late 1990s. He continues to own an adjoining parcel of woodland, which is being converted to Continuous Cover Forestry.
In addition to his interest in landed estate management in general and forestry in particular he supports a wide range of charitable interests through the Henry C. Hoare Charitable Trust.
